Baptisms
we welcome adults and children to be baptized at st. christopher's, and we are glad you are thinking of having your child baptized at st. christopher's. you do not have to be a member at st. christopher's to be baptized or to have your child baptized. this is because baptism is about being a part of the wider church in the world and making a new beginning with god.
for children's baptisms, it is customary to have godparents who are baptized christians comfortable with making promises to raise the child up in the christian faith.
it is anticipated that adult baptismal candidates or parents and godparents of a child to be baptized make time to meet with the priest before the baptism. this is both to provide some preparation for the baptism itself as well as to discuss and understand the meaning of the sacrament of baptism.
normally it is the custom to hold baptisms at sunday worship (especially on the four principal feasts of easter, pentecost, epiphany & all saints' day). however, with covid we are currently open to alternative means of baptism on days other than sundays if there is concern about family or friends being vulnerable to the disease.
we hope you and/or your loved one will be baptized here.
